Mouse and Keybored freeze

Hello,
I Can't use my mouse or keybored I can load windows and it sits at desktop. I would like to know how to get my mouse and keybored to work. I tried other ones and they worked so it is not a problem with the mouse or keybored.
I would like to get my computer back to factory spec but I can't with out the mouse and keybore I have a gateway windows 98 that is used to go online.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
