Motherboard won't beep

Hello,
I have prob in my comp that when i start the comp it will start but doesn't give one beep which normally give after that no display on monitor screen so what is prob & how to solve it?

Configuration: asus P5GZ motherboard,intel processor dual core1.6ghz,win xp sp2,ie6

does the fan run, cd drive open?

also the power cord of monitor and pc
