DVD troubleshooting

Hello,
I am using windows Vista home edition. I have a laptop Toshiba satellite A 305. A while ago i burnt media files avi, wmv into a 4.7 GB DVD - R which took a space of 4.02 GB .
Recently, I am unable to see the files on my DVD as windows, Real player and media player are not detecting the files which are already on the DVD.
Even when i open the dvd with explore, open...etc, no files are displayed.
Can anyone help please? I desperatly need the files.

cleaning the lens will solve this issue

use a lens cleaner

and does it read other media dvd?
