Hello,
How can i Create my own Domain & host my Web files in Linux 0/s for Free
Actually i have a Internet connection, 1 Server

Please help me in creating & maintaining websites on my own Server

Configuration: Linux Fedora
Firefox 2.0.0.3

Yes, I am also trying this. First of all I don't know programming at all. but I am comfortable with precompiled servers like one wamp and xampp. I am stuck on this <Bind>. have 1 static IP, did port forwarding in router, don't know how to setup bind for assigning name server to IP. Its not all that easy these do not come as standard windows installations. We should keep in contact and if any body resolves this can share with others. I think I will be able to do it in a weeks time.

You can buy a domaine from www.godaddy.com for example to buy a domaine .info is costs 0,99 cents /Year with special offer from Godaddy , for .com, .net , .org it costs i think 10 $ per year, so is not expensive less thatn one $ per month and hosting will be in your own server.

I got it 90% done but still very complicated, I was advised to use win 2003 server and put xampp on it. then to put A records on dnserver native to win 2003. It did not worked either. Then found that at domain registerars panel you have to point name servers to IP, did it but it still not worked tried dyndns and it failed. I have droped and will never consider the idea to setup my own server. unless I found some really easy bit to do for non programmers like me. I am managing my domains with a registrar but server setup it not an easy task for me. It consumes too much of precious time. You can buy server space for shared hosting with Godaddy or blue host, ThePlanet is very expensive hosting and rackspace is for royal kings sell your kingdom and buy a server with them lol

but you know here in India the net access providers are not providing static IPs that easy.
At first they just frown at the customer and even if they agree this service is priced very costly.

Last time, I just managed to get single static IP and wasted my one month in requesting the technical help
at their backend. didnot worked at all.

If you are good at doing this job I request you to make a video tutorial and upload it onto youtube.
It will help budding enterprenuers. I will dub it for Indian audience.

This is the basic bottle neck here in India.
Imagine, if Google guys were born in India they would have been working in BPO call center. With the grace if God they had access to freely available resource in their University.

Yes. You can create your own domain but you have to pay to get a domain. It is available as 1yr pack or 3 yrs pack like that. But you can avail the ip details at free of cost on http://www.ip-details.com/ip-search/. Many websites the domain name cost of price is available.

These people mean how can they host the own domains like hosting companys do someone must be getting free domains from somewhere other wise no one would pay

for example:

You sign up and buy a domain at some website

once the site is up and running ect

how is the hosting company hosting your domain?

1. No one "gets" a domain name. you have to pay for one as already mentioned above. Depending where you go, it can cost as low as $7.00USD to $75.00USD for one year.

2. Once you created your website, you need to then create your domain name. You need to do a WHOIS search and see if anyone else already has it before you.

3. If you're hosting your own site - you can try to 'buy' a static IP address from your ISP, or use a redirection service like dynDNS and have them point to your box/server.

Nothing is free - so if you're trying to do all the above for free. It's NOT going to happen.
