Micro Sd memory chip for my computer/phone

Hello,
When I put my micro Sd memory chip in for my phone into my computer nothing shows up on the screen? but the chip works fine in my phone i think my brother said he set the computer up to when you put the chip in it does nothing and I tried opening "my computer to see if it was with the rest of the hard drives but it isn't. any solutions.
