Computer turns off inserting removable drive

Hello,
every time i insert a removable disk(flash drive, mp3) my computer automatically turns off. why is this happening i have avast anti virus and spy bot. it gives no warning and shuts down. i'm using xp

Dear Sir,

This could be because your removable drive is infected.

Try deactivating your anti virus software and open it. You will have

to format it and also if it infects your PC, you will have to format it too.

This should solve your problem.
