Hello,
actually..i connected my LAPTOP (vista OS) with my PC(xp os)....by a Ethernet Cable...and...wrote....in my PC in RUN --""\\laptop's computer name""". but it showed....network path not found and
same in my laptop I tried in RUN ""\\ computer's computer name""...It showed windows connection error
even i am not sure that it actually connected or not please....some1 reply me describing the whole process please its urgent

it will never connect like this

you must use a cross cable and not straight one

Take a look on this connecting two PCs directly by using crossover cable article, and you should be able to ping other PC if you've configured them correctly. Not difficult, pretty simple configuration.
