Screen Resolution help please

Hello,
well i had one of those weird updates and when i turned back on my computer the screen was stuck in a 600 and 800 resolution and everything was big like my icon. Then i wasnt allow to play on games no more because of this problem and the reolution button wouldnt move like it was stuck. Please tell me how i could fix this and thank you a lot.

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.14

Right click on any empty area on the desktop.
select Properties on the drop down menu
click the Settings tab
go to the Screen resolution slider and pull it all the way to the right.

then click on OK

the above should return your PC to the maximum resolution for your system.
