No desktop

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, just a few months old, with Windows XP.

Quite often when I have logged into my account there is no desktop or Start on the screen. It's just the background picture on the screen. When I restart the laptop once or twice I do get the desktop.

Does anyone have the solution to this problem?

Dear Kat,

This should be because the laptop takes time to load,

you shouldn't restart it. Let it load completely. Also

if you see that it takes too much time, save your files

making backup copies and format it.
