Black screen before logon

Hey guys, so yeah... everytime i start up windows right before it gets to the logon screen the screen turns black and u can still see the cursor, but nothing else and it stays like that for 3-5 min before going on to the logon screen. also, i dont know if this helps but i installed a custom logon screen for my comp but never did figure how to get it back to the default =/ what should i do? help is appreciated =D

Hey there,
so what i would advise you firstly is to uninstall the custom logon you put on your computer. you can do that through the ad/removeprograms menu found in the control panel. the blank screen usually with windows xp it is often common but if you have a good memory configuration the computer will start up more faster so you can alternatively change upgrade your memory in order not to get this problem.

Hello blue =D, i tried using the ad/remove programs tool but was unable to find anything related and then went looking inside my program files and still no luck. the logon screen came with a skin that i download, but after unistalling it it kept the logon screen for some reason so i have no clue where to look =/ it was a while back so i dont remember the exact skin but im pretty sure that it might be this one: http://kayeirene.deviantart.com/art/VistaPerfection-X4-RCX-4­2710127 and if i remember correctly i installed the windows vista transformation pack 5.0, which can found here: http://www.jcxp.net/news.php?newsid=1632. dont know if this helps any =/ also, are there any certain folders or files that i might be able to look for that would allow me to edit the logon screen? (for example: deleting the custom logon files and replacing it with windows xp defaults). sorry, one last question x-x is there a way for me to edit the startup options/settings to get rid of this problem? thx for your help. =3

Hiya can i ask if you got your problem sorted out with your computer, it's ok my brothers comp is doing the same thing.
His start's up verify's dmi pool data then goes a black screen with a cursor in the top rleft hand corner, but the trouble is mine dosent do anythink after then, it will not start upo in safe mode nothink?

Scan ur comp. for virus, i had same problem and my computer had a trojan that scanned everything before running and thats y it took a while for login to come up
