What equipment do you have now?

You can use a "crossover" Ethernet cable to connect the two computers directly. Then you use the network wizard in Vista and XP to share files or folders between computers.

If you want to connect both computer to broadband internet you need a "router" and two standard Ethernet cables.

Good Luck
