Fujitsu Notebook wont boot up

Hello, My daughter's Fujitsu laptop E series was working fine til yesterday when it now will not boot up correctly. It comes up with the screen saying Windows shutdown abnormally and to restart using last known configuration, or in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt etc. Selecting anyone of these options starts to boot and then a blue screen with writing is very briefly displayed (too quick to read) and it then reboots and again and back to the Windows shutdown abnormally screen and just keeps going round in circles. I can get to the BIOS setup screen but can't do anything to get it to reboot. I have a copy of Windows XP from which I ran the repair utility. I did a chkdsk /r but it gives me the message CHKDSK is performing additional checking or recovery 3 times, then it starts and gets to 25% (this was the most, other times was 3% and 4%) before it comes up with 'The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems.'

Is there anything else I can try? I am desperate to get to Christmas when we are buying a new one and really wont to get all the pictures/docs off before then.
Please can anyone help? Desperately need to get it up and working! Many thanks.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
