PS CS4 was working just fine reading all of my raw files until I cleaned off my desktop. I must have deleted something important inadvertently. After that, it wouldn't read raw at all. So I upgraded to Snow Leopard, which didn't fix anything, then uninstalled PS. I cleared off everything PS-related -- my preferences from user/username/library/preferences -- and nixed Adobe Bridge separately, too. Then I reinstalled, downloaded Camera Raw 5.5 and thought things were working. Then I realized that it was now reading SOME of my raw files but not all of them. I think it's having more trouble with pics from my 50D (I also have two 30Ds and a 5D Mark II), though I'm not positive that it's only 50D it's having trouble with. Regardless, based on the image numbers, it will read one image from the same camera/compact flash card, then not read the very next image. It seems completely sporadic.
I've done the uninstall/reinstall three times now. I thought that when I redid it clearing the preferences, I'd fix things, but no. Also, when I go to "help" and "updates" within PS, it finds things to update, but it errors out when I try to install them. The updates will download without a problem, but they won't install.
This is so maddening.
In case it's helpful, I have a MacBook Pro, Snow Leopard is new to me (but the raw problems predate it by a week), and I was reading raw totally fine until my boyfriend convinced me I should clean my desktop. >:-/
