Cannot access other PC in LAN

Hello,
I have connect IEE 1394 net adapter in a LAN runs in windows XP.The other PC has Realtek RTL8139 Family LAN card runs in windows Xp.I cannot access the other PC's of same work group and same network.It shows connected but cannot access.I open LAN properties and click support then it does not show IP address,subnet mask etc though I configured the IP address and others.What should I do to access other PC's ???

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.5.3
