Echos in 2.1 sound system

Hello,

I have a 2.1 altec lansing and it uses somekind a optical fibre through the sub woofer to the monitors, but sometimes i hear an echo while listening to music ? How can i fix this ?

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.5.3
