Hello,



The LG LS50 laptop I've had for over 3 years has served me very well, for what I use it for. Its specs should be in my profile.


First of all, I don't have much experience with changing hardware, especially on laptops. The only thing I've done is upgrade 1GB ram.

Am I correct in thinking that so long as I stick to the same specs of my motherboard (400 MHz FSB, 479 socket tech FC-µPGA) I can just swap out my CPU and get the driver for it?

OR should I just look into changing out the Chipset? Maybe to a dual core? Is that even possible.

Any insight/recommendation is welcome

You may be able to replace the processor; however, I would not in a 3+ year-old laptop. It isn't worth that anymore. You'd also have to take the entire system apart which is not a small task.
