If the Windows XP install disk can not find the hard disk. Then you will need to find and download the SATA drivers that are missing from the XP Disk. You will need to "slipstream" these driver files on to a new copy of the XP install disk that you burn on another PC. I suggest you google both "SATA drivers for XP" and "slipstream" for instructions. If you get XP installed you must then find and download XP versions of the hardware drivers. HP may or may not supply these drivers - depending on the exact model you have.
