Hello,
My computer will not start. I turn it on and the operating screen goes to a blue screen which reads Iolo Boot Defragment. I left this screen up for 3 days and nothing. I tried f8 and running my computer in safe modes. It gets stuck on this black screen with a bunch of dll/partition files listed. I tried putting the Window's disc in and repairing it with the disc. The computer will not read the disc when I try to reinstall windows and when I try to repair windows it asks for an admin password.... which i've never had. So, pretty much my computer won't come on and I'm pretty sure Iolo Anti-virus has something to do with it. What on earth do I need to do?

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.5.3

Try reinstalling Windows. You might have a Windows disk somewhere (look in the box(es) that your computer came in)

Hope this Helps

I once had the exact same problem
solution:
1. download puppy linux, burn the image on a cd, boot in puppy linux(your not installing it, your booting it by just using the ram), it should work
2. Recover files on hard drive
3. format hard drive (fat 32)
4. insert windows cd in and install windows, it should read it now

i did not offer a description on how to do each things, sorry, i am very short on time, but you can look up how to do each step online and get a very detailed description

hope this helps, it took me a total of 12 hours to do this, but this includes me figuring out how to do everything, depending on how computer savy you are it will take from3-7 hours

IF it won't read the disc, clean the disc and the laser inside.
