For some time now I have used my TV to view movies that I have stored on my PC hard drive, and I have done this my connecting my PC to the TV via a 15-pin VGA cable. However, just recently I tried to connect my PC to my TV in this way and I have not been able to get the PC display on the TV screen... The strange thing is that the PC display is shown on the TV screen at startup (windows logo etc), but then just turns black, and stays that way.
The only thing I can think of that might have caused this problem is that recently (in an effort to make my PC run faster) I removed some programs/software (using the Add/Remove Programs function) that were apparently being used 'rarely' or not at all. I now see that this was the wrong thing to do, but in any case the problem is now that I don't know what I removed... d'oh! I also recently downloaded the application 'cccleaner', and have used this to tinker with startup programs.
I've put this in the software forum because I suspect the problem lies here, rather than with hardware.
