Hey,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 computer from 2008. It has the Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family graphics card. I just bought a 42 inch 1080 lcd tv and I would like to be able to hook my laptop to it in order to use it as a monitor sometimes. I have some high res movies on my computer and I am wondering if I will be able to watch them by hooking my computer up. Also, I can use an HDMI cable to do this? The information about my graphics card is: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelgm965/ Thank you for your help!!

From,

Lauren

Hey Lauren,

I went to take a look at what your output is capable of here:
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022544.htm

Your model of laptop is said to have HDMI 1.0 (Version A) out, which means if your TV has hdmi(which I assume it does), then yes they are compatible together. However, with the laptops display, you will not receive maximum 1080p resolution, so it may not look as good on your t.v. as you hope.

I would suggest borrowing an HDMI cable from someone to test it out before going out and purchasing one!

Asten
