How to boost up the internet connection. Is there any software like modem booster, and how to download it free. Please help me guys.

Yeah you cant make your download faster but if you have 256kbps and download from a website thats only giving you 20kbps you can use free download manager which splits it into parts so it will rise to about 100-200kbps

Look dude, to speed up ur IT u gotta first optimize your IT connection. OK?
Then u gotta optimize ur TCP. Y'aight yo ?
and u also gotta make sure you aint havin any virus!
Then download a download accelarator like for eg: download manager! Ok?
Then you having a speed connection upto 100 kb/s !!

By the way........... Remember this step gonna take long time..... don't be in a hurry!!

Advice: better restart ur PC and then do follow the steps and also close progs like Yahoo! MSN! etc, to make it a bit more fast!

Dude ... ur connection speed is 256 kbps(kilo bits per second) ... n while downloading any file from internet it ll show u in bytes not in bits ... so if ur getting max of 30 kBps(kilo Bytes Per Second) its perfect ...
wht ever ur connection speed just divide it by 8 u ll get the actual speed

Well, you are getting the advertised speed. You purchased 256 Kbps and 30KBps is correct. Divide 256 by 8 times .9 (10% overhead) and you end up with 25.6 KBps.

The kicker is in your writing. "B" (bytes) is very different than "b" (bits). There are 8 bits in a byte.

1.256 kbps ----- 25 to 30 kbps
2.1mbps ------ 60 to 80 kbps
3.2 mbps ------ 110 to 150 kbps.

First of all if you want to increase your net speed format your full computer if it you thinks it contain viruses,malware,trojan,and other programes.
install window that not mullified or changed
then install kaspersky internet security 2009
update it
install ccleaner you can get it from www.cccleaner.com
install tune up utilities &other softwares
then you can fing your net speed more higher
i asked you to format your computer because malware can not be easilt traced and cant be del easily
these malware eat out lot of internet speed
you even did not knew what going on .you think your pc is safe but this is not right

Let Me conclude your discussion

the speed that are define in your plans are kilo bits per sec whereas the download speed is shown or transfer rate is shown in terms of kilobyte per second
for eg:

8 bits = 1 byte
therefore
256 kbps = 256/8 = 32 kBps the difference is " b" bits & "B" bytes and therefore you get the download speed of 32 kBps these are the technical terms which sales people even dont know.

Correction

1.256 kbps ----- 25 to 30 KBps
2.1mbps ------ 60 to 80 KBps
3.2 mbps ------ 110 to 150 KBps.

Remember b = bit and B=Byte

Hey man u r wrong.. i have 1.8 - 2 mbps connection on adsl.. n i get dwnld speed of 225-240 kbps.. nd 256k connection has 40k dwnld speed.. u can use bit comet to increase ur dwnld speed..

well maybe it cud be slow becuz....if u living in a flat sharing the connection....it can slow down the speed....
TRy Contactin ur net service thru their sites.....maybe they mite say that they are temporarily having some inconvinience.....or then disable ur modem orthe configuration.....and enable it again.......try trouble shoot......

Thers is no method to increase ur speed..ur download speed is tht much which is provided by ur net service provider..the fact is tht they say you will get a download speed of 256kbps...
n whn u starts to download its around 32KBps..which is same this is atrick to befool u all by net provider
256 kbps = 32KBps
so no way 2 increase speed ..sm software are there which increses but only a few %
say 30-40 % lik IDM n DAP

There are lot of ways to increase the speed of ur internet access...

1. goto network properties and disable everything otherthan tcp/ip(if u use filesharing, rdp, then enable respective protocols)
2. start--run--gpedit.msc-admin templetes--network--qos packet--->(in the right side) --click on limit reservable bandwith --enabled--bandwidth 0%
3. download tcp optimizer from http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php.
this tool is free and it increased my speed drastically...
yes...
now my connection is like t1 connection

Hey ruban...

k its like....fr the past 2 weeks.....in the middle east and europe.....the internet is really workin slow....due to some problems wid the underground cabels....they say it was cut....so it will take a few months to repair....

I have an internet speed of 256kbps....and my downloadin rate comes around 25 26....
but now it is 2.3....3.4....

so i think there is no way of acceleratin ur speed if u are facin this problem.....
the only thing is to wait....and wait...!!

Hey samu ,ruban ..... others

first understand this....... your internet speed will be given in KILOBITS PER SEC and your file download rate will be given in KILOBYTES PER SEC .... everyone knows that 1byte-8bits .... so divide your net connection speed by 8 it will give you your max download speed (eg:256kbps---- 256/8=32 so ur download rate for 256kbps net is 32)

second... the programs such as download accelerator ... or free download manager they increase the usage of your internet.... ur normal windows download manager leaves 30% of ur download rate to the windows based programs....
but these download accelerators allot low to the windows and high to the file your downloadin... they may nt increase ur download speed much but they are certainly better than normal windows default download manager... i would advise u to use download accelerator plus...

third.... if u r talking abt laggs ( getting stuck ) in games then its not with the speed its wid your bandwidth ( amount of data than can be transferred from computer to the server) then i would advise u to take a DSL or CABLE ( they have the most bandwidth )

Besides that, I also recommend cFOSspeed. If you don't believe that software can increase your network efficiency, just go to their site and you can read a detailed explanation of the methods by which their product accomplishes this. In my opinion, it's the best such software. To give my own summary of how it works, it compresses ACK(nowledgement) packets, which comprise the greatest overhead of any TCP-based traffic, and prioritizes other packets in order to make sure crucial applications' connections experience no delays. It's very customizable, and easy to use I find.

Seems the question on download speed is on many minds. I have comcast and a new Netgear N router. The speed I get thru the comcast modem is 24,000kb down 34 pings but hook it up to the Netgear router and I drop to 14,000kb and I am only 2 feet away from the router. I changed out the old Linksys router that gave me 9,000kb but would like my 24,000kb Thanks
