Hello,
my laptop is giving me an blue screen with an error message <UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME> I cannot get my computer to turn on. I need step by step directions if you can help like for dummies. Please help Im not computer friendly I guess you can say so I have no idea what to do, like at all. Please email me if you can nancymagos@comcast.net

What that is telling you is that your hdd has possibly failed.

if you boot up go into your bios to see if it recognizes any hdd connected.

or, press f9 when booting, this normaly gets you to a boot order menu, try to select your hdd if it's there.

if it isn't, then you need to shut down, remove your hard drive. re seat it and boot up.

if that does not work, then you could slave it to another computer to see if a chkdsk will bring it back to life.

failing that you may need another hdd.
