Can't send emails through messenger

Hello,
I'm new to the internet and my service provider is the post office. I want to conect my emails to my messenger but when i try do this it asks me to log in repeatedly and i keep getting error codes saying my email username and password are incorrect. I've checked several times and there not i don't know why it won't let me have access.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

Maybe you are writing the wrong password and email address. Should be one of these two reasons.
