Cannot run any applications after a download

Hello,

I tried downloading a video last night and when I clicked on it in my folder it disappeared. I now cannot open any applications. I tried doing the spyware,adware,rogue,trojan remover stuff and cannot even run those applications. Basically the only thing I can do is get on the internet. Can someone help me? I cant even check my email.

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.13

Try a roll back to before you put that file on.

system restore. try booting up in safe mode and run it from there
