HDMI Laptop to TV

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402 laptop which has a HDMI slot and my Sony TV has the same slot. I just wanted to confirm that if I buy a HDMI cable I can hook my laptop to my TV to get sound and picture. I read somewhere that I might need a DVI cable. I'm completely clueless when it comes to this type of stuff. With my old laptop I just used the S cable but my new laptop doesn't come with one anymore. If you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
