VLC NO SOUND

Hello, my VLC player has always worked fine, but I try to play a Video on it now and there the Video but absolutly no audio, can someone please help me, desperation is kicking in.
and please use simpleton terms, Device Manager? where is that where can i find it. OSS what on earth is this OSS i keep hearing about, what is it where can i download it
Please help me fix the problem.

Hello Sir,

You just have to check your volume settings, You should have VLC opened!!

Then check the VLC volume if it's on mute or on low!!!

OR

Simply re-install your sound device driver using the software disc

Hi there,
What did you mean - in the middle of the volume mixer settings? i have the same problem and my volume is definitely not muted
