Windows XP will not activate?

Hello,


I have a Dell GX280 SFF that should be running Windows XP Pro SP2.

My question is every time I try to load XP onto the systems and it ask me the product key, which is on the side of the machine it will not recognize the key and say invalid key. I have even got a friend to try to input the key in and it comes up the same. What do I do now as I would like to use a genuine Product key?

Hey there,
i couldnt help notice u said about a genuine key, i have this problem, i bought this laptop second hand and now only have 2days to activate windows, the product key on this lappy is not working... what do i do....
please help as i am in germany in the army and this is my only point off contact home...

Thank you.... it is 8971wilso@armymail.mod.uk windows xp home edition, service pack 3...
i really need this or will have no contact with outside world, it would just destroy me...

I have now sorted out the activation of windows on my Dell GX280sff

The product key that is on the side of the machine is a genuine product key from microsoft which Dell have purchased only to be used on thier machines.

This product key can not be found on a Windows XP Pro installation disc but only on the Dell re-installation disc.

so if you have a computer that comes with a re-installation disc use that one to activate your computer and not the one by microsoft.

As I didn't have a Dell re-installation disc I had to get the disc from my brother who has a similar computer to mine and used his disc and my product key to get the computer up and running.

If you havn't got a dell disc then you can download the program from:

http://www.torrentreactor.net/

but make sure you have a genuine product key that belongs to you or your windows will be de-activated after 30 days
