Problem with aspire wifi [Solved]

HI Folks
i am worried i just formatted my laptop aspire 3680 with and made the installation of windows Xp Sp3 on it.
The installation has been correctly done and most or my drivers installed on the pc.
But seems that my wifi driver has not been installed
I have been going on acer support official website to be able to retrieve the driver and downloaded a zip file
after installation of driver installed my computer still not recognize my driver
plz help me

Hi,
I got the same problem

You must search for wifi atheros broadcom driver

Download it from another site or search for a compatible driver

heiki.. i do have the same problem with my aspire 4520

can u help me with the type of the driver please..

i have installed Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter

the problem is my wireless cannot detect any wireless source.. so i can't use my wireless

what can i do? please help. coz i'm not IT guy.

Install broadcom wireless for aspire 4520, not atheros wireless.

WLAN not working for xp installer ... why ? what i have to do ? i see in control panel installer not have a problem, but still dosn't work ... the driver is atheros ar5005g.

Hey. I just used the instructions on the intel website to find out what mine was (I also have an Acer Aspire 3680). It's neither an Intel nor a..whatever that other one was. It says that it's a Yukon. A Marvell Yukon 88E8038. Unless I'm completely wrong about that.

Acer gives us a spupid driver for XP. It took me 2 days to go to the warrenty center. Then i find this to solve my problem:

U should try to find the driver on your frenz. Not must be exactly same series with your Aspire. Try with other series

hiii guys.. if anyone need xp drivers for acer 4520 go to acer's website.. they still got all the xp drivers

I had the same problem with my 3680. Vista was so slow I had to go back to XP. The 3680 handbook says that the wlan chip is Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. I tried all the Intel 3945ABG drivers from Acer but no go. I did a hardware listing under Fedora(/sbin/lspci) and it said my chipset was Atheros AR242x. I got the 'Wireless Lan Driver Atheros 802abg Atheros ver.5.3.0.45' from the Atheros website and the wifi now works. When I tried to load Acer Empowering Technology which was there with Vista it said this programme only works with Intel chips?? Am I misunderstanding something here? To offer Vista on low power laptops is ridiculous. Next time I will request XP as the operating system.

Start the system and enter setup then restore to default settings and go to main, then navigate sata mode and set it to IDE mode instead of AHCI mode

hey kindly don`t ever buy acer laptops becoz i had one before in that we can`t install any software which is according ourown wish so kindly don`t everever buy acer laptops becoz it may cheap but it is some kind of ------------------damn thing

thats bull shit i have got 5 acer laptops and they all work great its just cuz u brought the shit ones i have got 3 aspires 2 Ferrari and 1 tavelmate and they have worked fine always fast and no problems at all

hi bro
for your info i also use laptop acer3680 .window xp sp2 or sp3 is not good for this model acer. so i suggest u to use vista .same as me i already install window xp the problem is

a) sound driver - u cannot hear external sound ( earphone )

b)wifi - same as u ,cannot use

it happens to all laptops cuz they use there own things that you have to reinstall for it to work (not including linux) dont change your os unless its from acer so you dont have to do that install stuff or if you change it to linux you dont have to do the acer stuff
