Hey guys I am new to the forum but a vetran to computers...

What you are experiencing is a virus that has embedded itself in the MBR(master boot record)

Option 1:
Rewrite the MBR using DOS... To do this boot the computer into safe mode with command prompt..
where it says C:\system32

type: "cd.."

This will put you to the root directory now

type: "Fdisk /MBR

when complete

type:"exit"

Reboot

Option 2:
set the bios to boot from the cd drive first

insert your XP system cd into the drive reboot

when it says press any key to boot from cd.....well go ahead and predd a key

let setup do its thing and follow the steps till you get to the part that says repair this installation

there you need to select the options that will allow you to repair once complete the computer will reboot

problem solved?

I own a computer business and i have encountered this issue many times both on laptops and desktops.

I hope your problem has been resolved if not post back i will reply..
