Hello,
I have an IBM t42 (windows xp pro) that has been having some issues as of last week. The computer started to freeze and the screen started to blink or look as if it had static. In other words, the text and pictures began to move and and nothing works but a hard shut down.
I attempted many time to enter rescue and recovery disks. But, the computer would turn on but nothing would show on the screen. I don't believe the CPU was running. The only sound I can hear is from the fan. No other lights were eliminated on the monitor (i.e. CPU or wireless status) to show activity except my power source indicator. The CD drive would start to run and then shut down after a few seconds. Finally, the computer recognized the cd and entered rescue and recovery. I fully recovered the system to when I purchased the unit many years ago.
But, I am still having the same issues. After about a few minutes, the screen starts to bounce around or blur and it freezes. Again the only thing I can do is shut down the computer using the power button. It is taking more and more attempts go get my computer to start windows.
What do you think the problem maybe?
Any information would be more than helpful!
Thank you,
