Hello,
We need to remove or bypass an adminiatrator's passowrd. We recieved a donated computer for a nonprofit. The PC has windows xp operating system. we activated the operating system with the product key but now we need to activiate windows before the trial period expires. The PC has an administrator's password that is preventing us from accessing the activation key or is allowing us to load software. The place that donated the pc is not willing to support the activation of the equiptment. We may have to disgard the machine if we cannot remove the adminiatrator's passowrd. Help!!

Configuration: HP PC, pentiun 4 processor. Windows XP no internet access

Hello, actually it is possible they donnated only the hardware but not the software or the operating system. (please note that windows is the operating software) there is no need to discard the pc,

A free solution is to install linux on it to replace the restricted os

or

RE-install a proper windows and activate it properly :)

hope it will help

The machine has Windows XP on it. I entered the product key information that was attached to the machine. We have a desktop screen. The problem is finding a way to enter the windows activation code before Windows expires in 20 days. An also the PC will not allow us to load any software because we are not the Administrator. No one knows what the administrator's passowrd is. None of us that volunteer at this non profit center has real computer skills. I have the most experiance with PC's which is not much. I do have some limited Dos experiance and no experiance with Linux, or any other operating system.

Well installing windows xp aint that difficult, most of the instruction are on the screen :)
But to install it, you need the proper cd that matched the version of the key you have.

By the way have you try to activate it online? when it give you the expiry warning? isn't there an activation option?

Do you have the windows installation disk for the computer?

Do you have more than one account to log in to on the log in screen?

Do you know who installed Win XP on your machine? If it was not recently installed, it sounds like someone copied the hard drive and put the OS on a different machine... which is why it needs to be activated.

Looking forward to your reply,

We don't have the original software disks and We don't know who loaded the software. The machine is a donation from a local business. The Microsoft windows Xp was already on the PC.
