Hello,
I was installing windows xp pro as suggested by an iyogi technical support tech because of an internet problem I was having that turned out to be the cable company and not my virus protection software. While installing, it stalled and went to a dark screen with a message that the hard drive was damaged. I made several attempts to boot and install and I kept stalling at 25% of chkdsk. I am at a loss as to how to recover my hard drive. I have hundreds of dollars worth of programs that I am afraid to lost by formatting the drive. I have some things backed up but a lot of programs have not been backed. Is there a way to get into the drive and retrieve without the OS completely installed and recover my files and data? If I could get past the stalled part, I stand a chance but am at a loss.Configuration: Windows XP Professional, Opera, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello Sir,

If you tried to re-install windows it means you formatted the hard drive,

I am very sorry for you, next time you should save all your important data in an external hard drive

Thanks
