Difference between DVD+R and DVD-R

Basically they are competing technologies. If your burner is capable of using both, which most are, then you can. Many home players will only read disks of one type or the other. Therefore if burning rips of movies you may nee to verify what media and also what formats your player can handle.
There is also a slight difference in actual capacity. DVD disks suffer from the same issues as harddrives concerning the difference in how they are measured.
There is also a third type of DVD recordable disk, DVD RAM. Google for DVD media types and you will get many hits.

hi vandy, there is no difference in features but they have different company which compete against each other thats all my dear,DVD-R/RW was developed by Pioneer and DVD+R/RW is supported by Sony, Philips, HP, Dell, Ricoh,Yamaha, and others, and has recently been endorsed by Microsoft.
