Hello,
I have Acer Aspire 4720z laptop and sometimes, it just won’t turn on. For example, I am using it now with battery and AC adapter, and then I’ll shut it down. There’s still the light (green or orange) indicating whether it is fully charged or not (but this time, it is green). Then if I’m going to turn it on again, it will open normally. But if I’m going to unplug the AC adapter, laptop won’t turn on (but it is fully charged). Then I tried to put the AC adapter again, still, it won’t turn on and there’s no light for the battery and other indicators. I tried to remove the battery, but still, it won’t turn on. I have to wait for hours or even days before it will open again. I can’t tell when it will work. Could you please help me with this? What is the problem with my laptop? My dad bought it just a year ago. Thanks!

Configuration: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.5.2

Same problem here with a Travelmate 5520.

I flashed the bios to 1.17 and tried re-seating the heatpipe and heatsink, which seemed to work at first but now again it doesnt start.

Last night it was running fine, I ran Burn-in tests for 3 straight hours. Then in the morning I restarted ad it wouldn't wake again. It just starts to spin the fan and then shuts off in about 2 seconds, restarts, fan spins again, 3-4 seconds and then shuts off.

It seems to start about 1-5% of the times i try.

Apparently an ACER problem.

There apparently is nothing wrong with the machine, its just the startup process that sh*ts itself.

The repair shop said that the problem is with the motherboard. We ordered a new one and hopefully, it will arrive by October. hmm.. Is it really the motherboard?? -.-

Hi there i am having a similar problem, last night i was on the laptop and i used it till the battery got low plugged it in and closed the lid well now, at some point through out the night i think my kids or wife used it and it was off the cord and went dead. Now this morning when i am trying to turn it on all it does is blink the yellow battery light. i have it plugged in but its not showing any kind of light. i tried pulling the battery out and also holding the power button for 4 minutes then putting it all back together and plugging in to no success. I have even tried to turn it on with the battery removed, yet again still nothing.... now i am dreading the fact that here in a few hours i am going to have to tell the wife that her pride and joy of a computer is not working...... P.s. if you never hear from me again i am probably still getting yelled at or something of that nature lols...

please help if anyone can think of anything else
