I have a Packard Bell UT0W - RIO. Today I turned it on and the HDD light on the tower keeps blinking on and off and making a clicking sound. The monitor displays nothing but a blank screen and the CD Drive won't eject and the light idles on green even though there is no CD within it. I've removed the hardrive and booted the PC with it still connected and the clicking sound seems to be coming from the HDD LED on the case. The CD Drive makes a constant whirring and stop starting noise.

I'm confused, all was fine when I shut it down and now I have nothing.

Can anhone shed any light on this?

Try resetting your mother board take off the power open it, pull out the power supply plug from the board, take out the battery and the jumper, leave it for about 5 mins and plug back everything the way they were and see how it works or if you don't know how to do that take it to a qualified computer technician

After completing what you said to do with the power supply the same symptoms still prevail. Anymore ideas on this front? Are you thinking the issue could be with the power supply or are could it be a motherboard issue?

Well first i thought it was a power problem because of the symptoms i think you should take it to a qualified technician cause it might be a complicated situation.

I am happy to take it to a technician but I don't want to get ripped off so I'd rather do the work myself if possible. If any components could be causing the issue what out of curiosity would you say they could be? Then if I take it to a technician hopefully they should diagnose something along simpilar lines which will personally give me more confidence when taking their advice.

Well to me it seems like a power problem which might mean the power supply or the mother board may be you should try plugging it in a different electrical point jus to make sure its not the power source
