Can lightning strike unplugged PC?

Hello,

Is it possible for lightning to strike a PC that is completely unplugged from the wall? If it is, is there a possible way to avoid it? Thanks for your input. BTW, I checked Google first.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

hi

If the phone or cable line is connected then yes it can.
Just think of another possibility. If you have a USB printer of external drive the IS connected to the wall I suppose it would be possible.
Good surge protection is in order.
