Hello,
My friend's laptop screen got smashed, nothing shows up now and I'm trying to recover files for him. he used to just hook it up to another monitor and it would work but it doesn't now. I have read the other forums and haven't found a solution that has worked. I hooked up my laptop to my 32" Toshiba LCD turned on the tv then turned on the laptop and pressed fn+(f1-f8) and nothing happened, I am thinking of trying an hdmi cable but I don't have one and really don't want to go buy one. can anyone please help me? op something new just happened while typing this, the tv now says unsupported video signal, anyone know what to do?
thanks,

You have to hook up the monitor cable to the jack on the side panel of your laptop and you have to press Control down and look for the F key with the two monitors on it. Viola!
