Power consumption of a PC

Hello,


I wish to know whether a PC consumes less power when running a text mode OS like DOS or
linux (without GUI), than when running a graphical OS suchas Windows.


Hope someone will find a solution for me.
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

hello

There will be a slight difference in the power used by the graphics card when displaying plain text as apposed to a GUI but the difference will be so small as to be negligible.
The power consumption will increase appreciably when displaying a moving graphics image such as a video game or streaming video.
