Boot DIsc Error

Posté par scrshots, le Thursday March 6, 2008 03:17:29 PM
Hello,
I've been using XP for several months on a 500gb SATA hard drive. Performance has been excellent but just last week I noticed my PC restarting on it's own every so often. Then I caught a glimpse of the blue screen of death!!!!

Now 1 in 5 times I start up my PC I get a boot disc error? Usually after a few attempts it boots up fine (much slower performance though) and then suddenly it can blue screen and attempt to reboot (where the error appears again)
Usually from being turned off it's OK, just a restart tends to then send it off either with repeated boot disc errors, of if it gets through that then a cycle where it gets to the XP loading screen then restarts then get to the xp loading screen and restarts etc.

I am not a particulalry technical person, I installed the hard drive (and XP) myself though (the rest was built for me). I've heard stories that I should have partitioned the HD prior to installing XP on it due to the size of the drive.
I am at a complete loss, if anyone could help me (and take me through steps) I would forever be in debt.
I'm sure it's not a HD failure though as I can still move files, back up (which I did!) and everything else works fine when it's on.
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

hi beena, here is ur problem solution temporarily ,
Problem:Wnidows Displayed "can not Find Script File C:\...\boot.vbs?

You've got a virus/spyware problem. Here are instructions I found online for removing it. You'll want to replace C:\Windows\System32 with the actual path to your boot.vbs file.

Run Process Explorer (right click on task bar>task manager>Processes) and Kill the Following Processes:
wscript.exe
dxdlg.exe (kill this one first)

Run Autoruns and under logon tab, remove
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscript.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\boot.vbs
Search for entries named wproxp and remove it

Remove the following files from your PC:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxdlg.exe
wproxp.exe (Most probably in your system32 or windows folder)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\boot.vbs

First go to safe mode (when windows xp start press f8 function key)
(Because maximum services not enable) like wscript.exe and dxdlg.exe
then
go to Run
type regedit

In the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

double click on Userinit on right side and delete
C:\windows\system32\script.exe and C:\windows\system32\boot.vbs

next restart the system and go to normal mode

now ur problem solve

I tried your solution on what I figured was a similar problem. Now I can't log in to the computer from any username, even in safe mode. My problem was on a laptop and once any user signed in, within minutes the system flashed a page of data on light blue background, which disappeared within seconds, not allowing the content to be read! it then began rebooting. Some times it would cycle 2-3 times before settling at the user login screen. I had intended replacing the deletion if it did not work, but alas I cannot get back in to reinstall the command! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
