If you have ever installed a previous version of Nero the Nero 9 is extremely hard to install. I did do it, after a lot of trouble with three failures, by the following actions
A preparation
1 Downloaded and ran the Nero Genral Cleaner, but it did not work
2 Removed all Nero from Program Files
3 Looked in Documents and Settings\ ApplicationData\ for the Nero sub folder and deleted it
4 Used a registry cleaner (Juv Power Tools) to find and delete all references to Nero from the Registry
5 Ran Crapcleaner to find and rmove all references to Nero any where on my system
6 Set chkdsk /f to run at the next reboot
7 Rebooted
B Installation
1 Used Task manager to make sure that all applications were closed
2 Paused my Antivirus program (Kaspersky AV 2009)
3 Inserted Nero 9 CD in first optical drive
4 Entered Serial Number
5 Selected typical install but disabled Ask tool bar
6 The installation completed in 30 minutes.

I rebooted and started Nero 9 from the desktop icon. Selected which modules should be shown when icon next opened. tried a few operations

Performance is Ok but in my view not better than Nero 8 so the huge effort involved in nero 9 is not worth it, let alone paying for it.

Had problems too. Don't forget to clean out I had the same problem after a previous bad installation of Nero.

\program files\Ahead\Nero
and more important:
\program files\common files\Nero

I like the program, but very bad installation and practically non-existent tech support.
