Hello, i have an acer aspire 5920 running vista, and its a good machine apart from one thing. after 6 months the battery has become very bad, maybe only giving 10-15 mins of battery time. worst thing it does is even if the battery meter shows 30 or 35% the machine just dies without warning. anybody else seen this and anybody have any suggestions to get a warning before the machine dies?

Configuration: Windows Vista
Firefox 3.0.11

I have exactly the same problem. I'm trying to get it replaced under warranty as it's such a quick decline in performance of the battery. I don't see why I should have to buy a new one so soon!

I face exactly the same problem only mine waited till I had it 13 months - so outside the warranty !! Computer simply switches off without warning after only 5 min or so, even when it says that there's plenty of battery life remaining. I've ran it for a while just using mains power but am now giving up and buying a replacement battery - hopefully that won't die as well,

Same problem here - 15 mins life on 7 month old machine! Ridiculous! I noticed the warranty doesn't cover the battery - but I am going to argue with the suppliers on the basis that (1) battery shouldn't be excluded within 12 months (2) the exclusion was received AFTER the machine was purchased (ie it came with the machine) and therefore under the law isn't a valid exclusion on the basis that it can be said that it is a new term added onto the standard 12 months warranty and one can't be expected to discover this only after the purchase of the machine. Incidentally, Amazon do a larger (physically as well as power) battery which give 3 times the life for under £50. Worth checking out!

Same problem, my 5920 has been back to Acer 6 times between April and August and they have now decided to check the battery, after constantly replacing the charger - problem is the battery is only guaranteed for 6 months so is now out of warranty - Acer are ripping people off left , right and centre - if they had checked my battery initially it would have been in warranty - Acer customer service are a total joke and just don't want to know - think we should all go to Watchdog!
