Hello,

im not very computer literate.
but as far as i know. some sort of error message popped up when i tried to open Windows Live Messenger.
i restarted my laptop (dell inspiron 6400) and a menu pops up saying:

we apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might caused this. etc etc.

And they give the options of safe mode
last known good configuration and start windows normally.
no matter which one i pick
it is always stuck on the loading screen with the xp logo.
it doesnt freeze, the load bar just keeps loading but nothing happens even after leaving it for a few hours.

I think it may be the ram that is causing the problem.
how do i know if its the ram or how do i check it.
without having to buy new ram. because it might not be the ram and then i would have bought the ram for nothing..

thanks so much in advance !

note: please talk in lay-mans terms as it will be hard for me to understand anything too technical

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.11

Hello,

There may be something causing conflict.

Try to boot on safe mode and correct errors.

Turn on your computer and press F8 on your Keyboard.

Once you are on safemode try to restore your computer at an earlier date on to remove software that you just install and make been causing those conflicts.
