Acer laptop suddenly shut downs

Hello,
when i switch on the system it will be fine later when i suddenly double clicked any folder or simply listening to songs it suddenly displays a blue screen telling that it has encountered a problem and again restarts.
it will happen around 5 to 6 times within hour. I really don't know what actually the problem is.
i kindly request you to give suggestion is there any h/ww or s/w problem

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.10

Hello,

I will advise you to repair your windows system,

Just boot the windows XP CD and then choose repair!

i just think that your system files have been damaged or corrupted!
