I need help....yes i tried google!

Hello,

I payed a guy quite a bit of money(atleast the price of 1 legit xp license) alot of money to do a fresh install of xp pro sp2 on my computer because i got a pretty nasty trojan and it was much easier to just reinstall the os. i honestly thought he was a pretty good guy until i go to run windows updates to download some security patches and it comes back saying "your computer did not pass Microsoft genuine validation...im pretty ticked off! i could have put a counterfeit version of xp pro for free that would have passed wga but im not dishonest like that! but is there any way i could download the patches NOT SP3 just certain patches that i need without it always bugging me about it being counterfeit?

Hello

On that page that tells you your copy might be counterfeit is a link to report it to Microsoft. If you follow that link and call/e-mail them your story they will often give you a legit copy of Windows at a discounted price....in exchange for the guy's name.

First you should contact the guy who you paid, explain the problem, and tell him to put a legit copy of Windows on your computer. If that doesn't work, he gives you the run around, ignores you, whatever, then talk to Microsoft.
