File transfering two linux systems using ftp

Hello,
I have a problem in transfering the files between two linux computers. My problem is that not able to transfer the files using ftp and myself new to linux operating systems. I am doing my project on linux and the first task is to transfer files using ftp in linux. The software version being used in linux is mandrake10.1 . Can u please send me the information about the commands for how to transfer the files using ftp. If it is possible send me screen shots of it.
