Hello,
I am trying to get a friends computer up and running. It is a Pavillion Pc A6000 with a AMD Athlon 64x2 and built in video card. I got it up and running and figured I would go ahead and do the Windows update since his computer hadn't been online in a long while. Well after doing the update it wanted me to restart and then it wouldn't boot up. The monitor gets no signal but the fans and drives all seem to be working fine. I tried pulling the ram out and reseating it, same with the cpu, checked the cpu and it did get warm, reset the bios, and also did the eraser on the ram. I tried starting the pc without the ram and didn't hear any beeps. I hope doing a windows update didn't fry the mobo! Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 8.0

I have encountered the same problem. The PC has been fine for about 2 years, but immediately after updating to IE 8 on XP Home the problem occurs. I have checked all the components, CPU,RAM, Mobo and Graphics card and all seems fine. The system is not in 'sleep' mode and I have removed and replaced the CMOS battery, still no change. The system doesn't beep or anything except the hard drive light remains on. This is areal puzzler!

Same here. I just updated to IE8 on a machine that hadn't been updated in about 10 months. Now no signal goes to the monitor. A friend of mine called me this morning reporting the exact same problem.
