I am having exactly the same problem and if anyone can help I would be very grateful. Thanks. |
Hey, sorry I cant help but wanted to say that I've been having exactly the same problem. Have tried everything I can think of... it started last weekend (29th June) and it's only the facebook site I can't get to load, everything else is fine.
Someone please help!! |
Just wanted to say that I managed to get on facebook tonight for the first time in a week.
I haven't been able to get onto it using my usual orange broadband connection via wireless router, but tonight I tried using a t-mobile web and walk stick connection, and it worked fine! So the problem is obviously not with the actual computer/browser etc, but with the internet connection. I would be interested to know what server you guys are using? |
I am having exactly the same problem - do you know how to fix it? |
I've been having the same problems and i solved it by changing the DNS servers to: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
I found these on the following website: https://www.opendns.com/start
|
Ooo thats very close to working now, thanks metalfury!! It's only loading the facebook login page but thats a start. If you have any ideas how to maybe get a little further, please tell me :) but for now, since no-one else has said anything, I assume everyones ok with that, so it maybe just my router.
|
Im still not able to get on either. Im also with Orange broadband so maybe it is a problem they are having. |
i am also having the same problem and have contacted orange about the problem. They seem to have no idea about the issue and say it must be a computer issue. I know that it isn't as i'm quite able with computers, not brilliant mind! I'm looking into the DNS issue but my computer does work on other broadbands so it must be the internet. no solutions as yet... |
That sounds like orange! If it wasn't a problem with the DNS servers then changing the DNS servers wouldn't fix it.
To save your phone bill you can email them at mailto:customer-service@uk.orange.com although it can still be a long and painfull processs. The advantage though is that you have a written record of their advice - my experience of their call centre advice is diabolicle. |
When I try to get onto facebook I get an error message about my java is disabled, But its not. But I have bypassed this
by clinking on reset password. They will email you right back with a link to clink on. when you clink on this link you are in your facebook page and everything works until the next time when you have to start all over again. Hope this helps you all. |
hi kat,
facebook recently is facing some problem as the number of users is exploding maybe it is due to that but i think that it will be ok in a few days till they cure the problems they are facing,,,,,,,,,, |
i got att highspeed elite and i get th same shit |
Thanks so much to all my internet buddies out there who took the time to try to help me out....have finally got to the root of the problem, it was the router!! We have now installed an Orange one (had a BT one before but our account is with Orange, and it now works fine (apart from the usual slow connections when it's busy)- so good to be back in touch, hope that the solution to the prob may help someone else who is also tempted to throw their PC out of the window in frustration, technology's ace when it works!!

Hey guys,
rang up orange, and they gave me these settings to check that theyre correct. You have to get to your router settings somehow. This is normally done by going onto internet explorer and typing 192.168.2.1 (it was for me) change those last two numbers if it doesnt seem to work. DNS Primary - 193.36.79.101 Secondary - 193.36.79.100 VPI - 0 VCI - 38 and (might be quite hard to find) if it's anything like mine, its WAN -> ATM PVC -> click on VC1 Make sure its PPPOA and MTU = 1492 This should work, if not, try the setup wizard and use the same values Hope this works for some if not all of you |
hi Kat,
u must try a few more times as may be several people were connecting in at the same time as u,,,,,, |
Hey All,
I'm guessing given the dates of the last prob, that you've probably resolved the Facebook thing by now, but here's something that is likely to offer a surefire solution down the line should it occur again. I'm assuming most of you are using IE7 or 8 (Beta), if so, try logging on to Facebook using Firefox. I've always resorted to that whenever I've had an issue and it has never failed. Good luck! |
I can't connect either. I've tried Firefox, Safari, and two versions of Explorer. I've tried on my MacBook and on a PC. Help! I get the following error message when trying in Safari:
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.facebook.com/home.php”. The error was: “Operation could not be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 302.)” (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork:302) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. I did report this, but do not necessarily expect it to help in any way. What is this error? I Googled it and got some strange hits. Can anyone clarify what might be going on? |
One other thing that might help, a bit drastic, but still...if you reset your IE settings (I didn't try it with any other browsers) - Internet Tools - Advanced - Reset (flag delete option), this has also worked for me.
Just make sure that you note or backup anything important (you won't lose your Favorites). Give it a shot, but, again, note/backup important IE stuff. Good luck! |
I haven't been able to logon to fb for nearly a month now, I've emailed every day and had no reply. I've noted from this column though that orange seems to be the weak link here, I have orange broad band, so is this where the problems are?
It's not a major drama, but nboth of my kids use the same pc and can log on as per usual Can anyone help ?? |
