| I haven't been able to logon to fb for nearly a month now, I've emailed every day and had no reply. I've noted from this column though that orange seems to be the weak link here, I have orange broad band, so is this where the problems are?
It's not a major drama, but nboth of my kids use the same pc and can log on as per usual
Can anyone help ?? so far i have: reset to default settings (nothing happened)
reset the modem etc (nothing)
sysem restored to week previous (this worked then next time i turned comp on it didnt so i restored again, it worked and now is not working again)
i bloody hate computers and hope that someone can give me an 'idiots guide to computing' style answer of what i could be?!! i have read all the above suggestions but i am with virgin media (on a network within my house where no one else has had any problems) not with orange so not sure the 'dns' suggestions will work for me?!
thanks for the help!!

i haven't been able to connect to facebook in around 3 months D:
i can get to the login page but once i click login, it says
"Safari can’t open the page “https://login.facebook.com/login.php?login_attempt=1” because it could not connect to the server “login.facebook.com”."
this is awful. i can connect on my ipod on the same wireless internet ... but not on my computer. (i have a mac OSX by the way, using safari) IT JUST WON'T WORK!
i've tried changing my DNS servers, but it still won't work.
ANYBODY with any kind of solution?! please help, i'm dying without it!
thanks ,

Reply to Zak | 51 chicbha8, on Mar 7, 2009 5:26:30 pm GMTI have been having the same problem, but everytime i scanned my computer for a virus with norton 360 it would find the same virus, at the same spot everytime, once it deleted this virus it would let me go onto facebook for about a half an hour. i really dont know why, but thats what i did.
i hope this helps Reply to chicbha8 | 54 Solvedd :), on Mar 22, 2009 8:21:30 pm GMTI managed to figure this out, since doing this I can connect to facebook and hotmail and it works perfectly!
Kay, (on mac) go to your system preferences and on each user it'll say what kind of controls you have. You have to add the website that you can't connect to. I added www.facebook.com and www.hotmail.com along with other websites I can't connect to.
So, it's not actually a server or DNS problem, it just has to do with parental controls.
Hope this helps, Nicole Reply to Solvedd :) | 56 boogulcut, on Mar 27, 2009 5:21:34 pm GMTI cant seem to find the parental controls option you discussed. I right clicked Internet Explorer on my desktop and then went to Internet Preferences. Am I looking in the right place? Thanks. Boogulcut Reply to boogulcut |
