Setup RAID 0+1 on ASUS P5B

Hello,


After my previous post I decided to go for RAID 0+1, question is how do I do it? I have an Asus P5B board using JMicron® JMB363 PATA and SATA controller it says " Support SATA RAID 0, 1" so I assume I can do 0+1. And I can't find an option on the BIOS that allow me to strip all the HDs into 1, I am going to use 4 x 80Gig HD SATA mode.


By the way, what kind of improvement should I be expecting?

If it doesn't list it, it probably can't do it.

You have your mind set on going with a RAID config. Why? The performance gains will be minmal except under certain conditions & gaming isn't one of them. If you want better performance, overclock your system.

Here's how one guy put it in another forum:

"the only time a 0 array really pays off is if you work with write/read data intensive apps, like video or photo editing. To put it on a system so your games load a second or two faster is quite the waste. When you install or uninstall software, yes...it is faster. But that's like having a Porche to drive up and down your block delivering the paper. Faster? yes...worth it and practical? NO."
