So I was playing games on my computer for a steady 4 hours or so when suddenly my computer just turned off. First I thought it might have just ran out of battery but I checked and made sure the power cable was still connected and it was. So I unplugged and plugged it back in and still nothing happens when I press the power button. The light that tells me its charging doesn't even come on. One light in front flashes three times and so does the light the light that is supposed to come on when I plug my laptop in.

So can anyone please help me! The laptop is only 2 weeks old and cost me a good bit of money.

Hi,

it may be a battery problem, remove the battery and then plug it back again.

or if it is only two weeks old, you may return it to the shop where you bought it as it is still on warranty.

Dude, four hours, take a break. im willing to bet your laptop works fine by now. it most likely was over heated, if this is the case DO NOT keep tryin to start the dumb thing, you WILL damage it. let it cool off, invest in one of those fans your computer sits on, its harder to find one for a seventeen inch, but very possible, try sams club they have a great one, best buys pricey, wal mart i dont think even carries them for 17in. good gaming! also, on my hpdv7, i play for hours and hours on end, but ill set my laptop on a table, with a cooling pad (i have an old one for a 15in and it works, but its annoying) and even point a fan at it. also try downloading software to monitor the temp of your laptops processor, they are easy to find and free.
hope this was helpful

Mine did the same to me last night. I had it sitting on my bed and it just shut off. A day later I still can't get it to turn back on. Could I have fried the power supply or anything else. Is there an easy way to check to see if parts have gone bad without taking it to a repair shop. The unit is about 3 years old and out of warranty.

I have previously had problems with it doing the same thing but I am pretty sure that was a bios issue.
