How to downgrade from xp to 2000

Hey, umm I got this computer sittin around and it runs on windows xp (but excruciatingly slow!!). I have a windows 2000 setup cd, when i put it in, it says that i can't det it up cuz its outdated or something.What can I do??

Dear Sir,

If you really want to install windows 2000 on your machine you will have to format Windows XP.

You will have to boot your PC using the Windows 2000 disk! First change the boot priority to CD/DVD Rom on your bios

Then follow the instructions! You will be asked to format the C: partition, to install Windows 2000
